Litchfield Builders is a family-owned and operated company.
In 1989, Jim Ahern worked in the family construction business, serving as the general superintendent on numerous large projects around the state of Connecticut. As the company became more apartment development and management focused, he took the leap and started Litchfield Builders as a sole proprietorship specializing in remodeling in Connecticut.
Early on, Jim collaborated with his brother, Kevin, who handled estimating and proposal work for many large projects. Together the two tackled many complex undertakings such as the renovation of Amity Safe & Lock and the construction of AAA’s Branford Branch.
In 1996, Jim and Kevin formally joined forces and became Litchfield Builders, LLC. They began working their way up the ranks in the New Haven County construction industry, completing the renovation of Mauro Motors Mercedez Benz/BMW and the administrative offices of The Milford Bank among many others.
With the success of these projects, the growing company opened itself up to many more high-profile jobs in the area.
Two years later, the firm officially became Litchfield Builders, Inc., as they are known today.
It is under this name that the firm became an award-winning, industry leader with a reputation for managing projects others shy away from. They are known for their high-quality work, customer service, and reliability and though still relatively small in size, Litchfield Builders now competes with some of the areas largest firms in both the residential and commercial arenas.
